"A Hobby a day keeps the doldrums away"
Phyllis McGinley
Ever wondered as to why sometimes one just feels intense pleasure and bliss in doing some activities or 'hobbies' during their past time? Or maybe even that feeling of impatience and longing to get back to that one activity that truly interests oneself and where ones passion lies.
By definition a hobby is 'a regular activity that is done for enjoyment, typically during one's leisure time.' The definition itself is reason enough to convey as to why one should always make time for ones hobbies, and if one dose not have any, finding a hobby is highly recommended. Reason being many business experts such as Jak Ma have said that "what one does after work hours till sleep or during ones free time, defines how one shapes out to be in the future". Ones hobbies can even be learning about different just for knowledge purposes, many people have deep love for just garnering knowledge outside their current knowledge bases. Doing what one is truly passionate about during ones free time or even every day for that matter helps one explore those areas which one would not have delved into otherwise. We start to explore new potential skill sets, interests which many a times helps us to widen or diversify our abilities. Apart from the knowledge aspect routinely doing a hobby or few hobbies helps one take time and mind off the everyday stressful and monotonous lifestyle that we now encounter in today's life. I would say that given today's stressful scenario and lifestyle diseases that come along with it, following ones hobbies, at whatever age, must be promoted and advised to by all parents, individuals and doctors as well.
Thus, they say "Hobby kids are happy kids". I recommend that all parents should encourage their young ones to take up a few hobbies, be it in any field, that will always keep the mind refreshed and help them grow into stable and all rounded individuals.
